Top COVID-Safe Adventures for Families in Florida

Top COVID-Safe Adventures for Families in Florida

On April 16, 2021

It’s been a very long year, and we’re all tired of being cooped without anything exciting or adventurous happening in our lives. Here in Florida, a lot of things have started to change, and everyone is beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Still, even though there are a number of safe activities out there, and many of the most popular destinations in the state have started opening back up, this is no time to let our guards down. It is possible, though, to get back out there while staying safe.

Here are a few adventures for the whole family that are a great way to make some new memories while minimizing any risks of getting COVID-19.

Famous Florida Attractions

Over the past year, many (if not most) of the most famous attractions in Florida have reopened, though they are all approaching the “new normal” carefully and deliberately.

Still, it’s important to remember that even though they are open for visitors, you can expect a different kind of experience when you go.

You can follow these links to get the full details on each of these popular destinations, but let’s look at how some of these parks are (as of this writing) trying to make your visit as fun and safe as they can.

  • Disney World – All four Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park are now open, but Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park remains closed as of now. When you arrive at the park, temperature screenings will be conducted, and security screenings have been modified to reduce contact between employees and guests. You will also need a theme park reservation made through the new Disney Park Pass system and guests age 2 and up will be required to wear face coverings in all public areas (except while swimming or dining).
  • Universal Orlando – Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Universal’s Volcano Bay and Universal CityWalk are open daily, but attendance is limited, so it may reach capacity on busy days. There are, of course, a number of procedures in place to help protect employees and guests, so be ready to undergo temperature checks, to wear face coverings, and to even have staggered parking in the parking garage.
  • Sea World Florida – Some of the rides, dining, and shopping venues here are still closed or at least have limited availability. However, guests can still enjoy a most of the attractions at the park. Just like the others, though, temperature checks, face coverings, and social distancing will all be required.

So, while things are certainly different, these famous parks and attractions are still a great place to bring your family and enjoy your time in Florida.

Famous Florida Beaches

The public beaches are allowed to remain fully opened right now, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they all are.

Every county in the state is able to determine which of their beaches will be open and which won’t. And while the vast majority of the beaches are, in fact, open, be sure to check lists like the one on this page that will let you know what is available.

Now, beaches won’t have as many employees going around making sure that everyone is wearing masks and social distancing, or people with disinfectants making sure every surface has been properly sanitized. So, there are a couple things you can do to enjoy the beautiful sunny beaches while minimizing your risks.

First, try to choose a beach that is less well known, and don’t be afraid to go find another one if your beach starts to feel overcrowded. Also, try to maintain a safe distance from others and wash your hands regularly.

If you take a few simple precautionary steps, you and your family can really enjoy your time out on the pristine sand and playing in the big blue ocean.

Explore the Local Parks

Nearly every major city in this state features some amazing public parks where you and your family can spend a day.

This is a great opportunity to get out in the sunshine and enjoy some time together playing, picnicking, or just walking.

In Orlando, for example, you might spend some time at Lake Eola Park where there’s plenty of room for everyone. Or maybe you’d like to head down the road to Harry P. Leu Gardens and take in the sights at this huge botanical garden.

Discover the Florida Everglades

The Everglades are synonymous with adventure in Florida. From the Big Cypress National Preserve to the Corkscrew Swamp and everything in between, this is one of the most intriguing and beautiful parts of the state, and since it covers so much area, it’s easy to get out and see something amazing while keeping your distance from others.

Getting Ready for the Adventure

Of course, we can’t write something like this without putting up a few disclaimers. Always remember that the current situation could change at a moment’s notice, so always take some time to do some research on these locations and activities before you get your bus tickets in Florida and head out.

We all have to do our best to keep ourselves and everyone around us safe.

With a little pre-planning and simple research, you can get out there and start having some great Florida adventures with your family again.

Also, if you are planning any travel to Texas, keep us in mind. We have new bus stops added in Texas to make travel there great too.
